Philadelphia Shop
Sturtevant's first regional expansion occured in the 1890s with the establishment of a shop in Philadelphia. It was located in the 5-story Bunn & Raiguel brownstone Italianate building(1850) in the area known as Old City, where the city had it's origin. The limited amount of information available shows their arrival in the early 1890s with a change of occupancy name to C.H.Gifford & Co. They were a mechanical engineering firm that served as the contractor/agent for B.F.Sturtevant around 1900 till the relocation to Camden in 1923.
The building still exists as a 16 unit residence.
