Camden,NJ Factory

In 1923 the Philadelphia branch facility was relocated to Camden(1923-1945), located between Thorn and Davis St.(approximately 1680 Davis). It manufactured all kinds of sheet metal work for the complete installation of fan systems, including heating, ventilating, drying, exhaust and conveying work. Guards for machines, pulleys and gears were also built. A stock of standard equipment such as electric proplellers, monogram and planing mill fans, steel pressure blowers, etc. were carried. This was an upgrade to a new building with 4 times the capacity and Pennsylvania RR siding.

Westinghouse promptly closed it after acquiring Sturtevant in 1945. The derelict remains are seen in the bottom satellite photo.

After 70+ years of neglect and ultimately a wholesale abandonment of this former industrial zone, the area has finally undergone a major renaissance with the building of the new Camden Prep High School. Today, Camden Prep is the #1 highest-performer of all renaissance and district schools in Camden.
