Sturtevant's success in the design of mechanical draft fans was due in large measure to its unequalled experience coupled with a thorough knowledge of materials and the proper heat-treatment necessary to produce the most reliable construction.

Sturtevant closed in 1989 with most US power plants still utilizing their fan equipment.
